Scope of the Course :
The Basic Sound Recording workshop introduces to the various steps of the conceptual, compositional, and technical skills of a sound professional through a set of practical sessions that together provide a listening experience. “Sound” is considered extremely useful for enhancing the visual impact of a film and television programme. Creative use of sound in the form of dialogues, music and atmospheric sound has been used effectively in cinematic presentation of a story. Equipment including recorders, amplifiers, mixers, equalizers, compressors and other signal processing units can improve or alter sound quality suitably for story telling. The professionals having these skills are in demand.
Apart from giving the theoretical topics like parameters of audio quality, factors governing audio recording, application of microphones, creative use of music / effects, commentary recording, need for post-production and its procedures. Participants will be carrying out the complete operations themselves during the first week to understand the procedure thoroughly. Later on, participants will be carrying out the post-production procedure with more no. of tracks in association with the specialized audio personnel to achieve the required results, making effective use of the elements of sound track through mixing.
The workshop would introduce fundamental aspects of the use of sound in media programme. This workshop would assist the enthusiasts who are in the media related to the audio in general. Lectures, screenings, discussion, demonstrations in class exercises and analysis of sound tracks will be scheduled during the workshop.
Objective of the Course :
To analyze and achieve required professional sound quality from given programmes.
To think in terms of sound and build up a sound track for media productions.
To plan and select appropriate sounds for effective communication.
To lay the tracks according to scene.
To prepare and mix the sound track as per aesthetic and engineering specified.
Course Dates : 19th May, 2014 to 31st May, 2014
Minimum Eligibility : 12th Standard
(Preference may be given to participants having Higher education and experience in Sound Recording or relevant field)

The filled - in application forms received will be scrutinized and list of selected candidates will be displayed on the website by 03rd May, 2014. Selected candidates should send the fees by Demand Draft (Nationalized Bank) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, FTII” payable at Pune. Selected Candidates should confirm their course participation accompanied with the Demand Draft of Rs 20,000/- (Rs Twenty Thousand only) so as to reach latest by 12th May, 2014 on the following address
