Name of the Course : Basics of Non Linear Editing (NLE)


Scope of the Course :

The traditional linear editing in Film and Television has been time consuming and expensive process. The alternative that is NLE which is currently practised world wide is comparatively very fast technique. An editor can develop vraious edited version of Film or Video programme for selecting the best one to create more than one version of the same content. Moreover the NLE system have become extremely cheap and affordable to individuals and thus the work of editing can be done at individual room. An editor can effectively use the art and aesthetics of editing by undesrtanding the NLE set-up, its operation and procedures of editing.

The course aims at basic understanding of NLE set -up, its operations, concepts and principles of editing and professional practice. This course is useful for understanding the theory and practice of editing on the NLE set-up. Hence the editor working in the industry, media teacher , in-service staff of Television channels/ Production Houses, EMMRC, SIET and individuals who wants to learn NLE can join this course.

Objective of the Course :


  1. To understand the basic concept, and techniques of non linear editing.

  2. To learn the operations of NLE set-up.

  3. To be able to edit TV / video programmes.

  4. To learn the basic technique of editing.

Minimum Eligibility : 12th (H.S.C.)

(Possession of minimum eligibility does not entitle a candidate for selection in the course. Committees constituted by the Institute will shortlist / scrutinize the application for admission in the course)

Information for the candidates :

The filled - in application forms received will be scrutinized and list of selected candidates will be displayed on the website by 16th November, 2012. Selected candidates should send the fees by Demand Draft (Nationalized Bank) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, FTII” payable at Pune. Selected Candidates should confirm their course participation accompanied with the Demand Draft of Rs 20,000/- (Rs Twenty Thousand only) so as to reach latest by 22nd November, 2012 on the following address
