Name of the Course : Basic Course in “Make-up for Film/TV”


Scope of the Course :

Make -up for Film & TV programmes is a highly evolved artistic form. The make-up artist creates character's & look required for story telling in films. It makes the performers look authentic & credible which gives the audience a specific feel. It may be Corrective, i.e., covering flaws and emphasizing attractive features and Creative, which enables actors to inhabit almost any type of character. Makeup must look natural & durable enough to last for long hours. A good makeup design requires research, experimentation, and sometimes inventing makeup products or appliances.

The course is designed to provide basic practical knowledge to individuals who are interested to learn the make-up techniques and develop the necessary make-up skills for make-up in Film and TV. The course will include input on human features (facial & body) and also the principles of colour, lighting, and special effects for correction and reproduction of skin tones. Course will also corrrelate make up with that of shot composition , costumes & set design and mood creation. The course will be conducted through presentations, demonstrations and practicals for the preparation and application of make-up in the given situations.

The course will benefit the working make-up artists & individuals intrested to join the make-up professions. Persons already working in the industry, TV Channels, EMMRC, SIET, etc. may also apply.

Objective of the Course :

  1. To understand the basic concepts in make-up.

  2. To understand different types of make-up.

  3. To be able to do make-up for fiction & non-fiction programmes.

  4. To be able to use make-up material effectively.


Course Dates : 07th January, 2013 to 19th January, 2013



Minimum Eligibility : 12th (H.S.C.)

(Possession of minimum eligibility does not entitle a candidate for selection in the course. Committees constituted by the Institute will shortlist / scrutinize the application for admission in the course)

The filled - in application forms received will be scrutinized and list of selected candidates will be displayed on the website by 19th December, 2012. Selected candidates should send the fees by Demand Draft (Nationalized Bank) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, FTII” payable at Pune. Selected Candidates should confirm their course participation accompanied with the Demand Draft of Rs 20,000/- (Rs Twenty Thousand only) so as to reach latest by 31st December, 2012 on the following address
